What might these unconscious psychodynamics be? Posted September 17, by Ms. We propose a discussion open to every IPA member who wish to question, argue or comment if and, if so, how new communication modalities are related conceptualy to psychoanalytical ethical issues. How do these changes affect the mind, our technique, and our consulting rooms? Are they related to fundamental psychoanalytical concepts to re-discover, question, clarify, revisite from this new point of view, protect?
New tools and communication modalities, as every sophisticated communication pathway, are not always clearly perceived, they don't always link well with former convictions. Their critisisme or their functionnality is established by the social-cultural-scientific authorities, with acceptancy of rational and self evident theoritical agreement, but not always efficiently elaborated and understood by the users as to be sheared correctly by all. In this case, what is the destiny of knowledge and information communication? How culture is served, sheared and transmitted?

Every cultural transformation fistly actualy "occures", then it is established and afterwards, more often, is studied, or sometimes fails and disapeare or rarely As Symigton suggest it, as far as it concernes virtual psychoanalytical treatement, internet communication is maybe unsuitable for patients, but somme analystes don't make a good use out of it either. In the meanwhile, both sides, those anlystes who have integrated web communication in their professionnal activity as whell those who are very ctitical with these new communication modalities are very carefull, indeed reticents, to express themselves openly.
In order to explore and maybe avoid the disparity, and even the gap, between new communication followers and old devotees we think it will be usefull to create a dialog. In order to open the debate, we have invited three contributors. We asked an introductory argument from three analysts, one from each ipa region, to present the interest et necessity of internet communication for the psychoanalytical institutions.
What is their representation of web communication? How they articulate new communication modalities and psychoanalytic principls? Should and if so, how can we defend diversity and differences? Do we have to share all of us the same use of web mmunication? Following their initial statements, the panel will continue to discuss this current topic. But the two authors are in total opposition, and I agree with Laurence in the sense that an analyst must be able to provide support to all transference projections, and more is known about him, more it is difficult: the aim of psychoanalytic abstinence is to enable transference.

But, if the possibility to join and speak with a therapist or a doctor can be an excellent thing, is there analysis? I mean, as a regular way of treatment, not occasionally. And if analysts do that, we must try to understand what the patient is living in the depths of his psyche. It seems strange to propose a treatment based on the speech with dematerialized interlocutors, while we increasingly have to deal with non-neurotic patients, border-line or narcissistic, for whom the materiality of the analyst and the frame is often essential.
Those for whom the couch is the analyst, as said Winnicott.
I think that the analyst's office, with the furniture, the smell, the heat, is a place, different of the common places of his life, where the patient can regress and express his repressed drives. If a patient, at a moment of a "classical" analysis, is unable to come to the analyst's office, it is possible to accept transient sessions by phone; but this analysand recreates in his psyche the usual frame of the sessions.
